Yandex Go is the dominant taxi app in Uzbekistan and works well in Samarkand. Download it before your trip and add a payment card (Visa/Mastercard work) or plan to pay cash. Rides are metered and very affordable. MyTaxi is another option. Avoid unlicensed taxi drivers who approach you at tourist sites — they typically charge 3-5x the app price.
